The work of art by Palladio in Vicenza
Palladio created the majority of his works in Vicenza. The most important one includes the “Palazzo della Ragione” with its continuation of serliane, the translation into classical language of the gothic multi-light windows. In the town centre the architect designed many buildings including Palazzo Chiericati, Valmarana, Barbaran da Porto and Thiene-Bonin, all with the unique classical monumental form, typical of Palladio.
Finally, in Vicenza he also designed villas such as Villa Thiene and the extremely famous Rotonda, representing the ideal model of Palladian architecture, with its central and symmetrical layout based on four axes. One of the most admirable works is definitely the Olympic Theatre, in which Palladio rebuilt the Roman theatre with archaeological precision.
