HISTORY, ART, ARCHITECTURE / ORMELLE AND SAN POLO DI PIAVE

Two small centres, proof of history and tradition

Behind the Piave River, at the foot of the Conegliano hills, several villages all with the same history and social development in common, can be found. This is the case of Ormelle and San Polo di Piave. Of the 2 villages, the oldest one is the centre of San Polo di Piave. Its church, dedicated to Saint George, is full of frescos from the XV century representing the life of Saint George.

Furthermore, in San Polo you can admire the Villa and the Papadopoli Park, a rare example of a concrete execution of the scenic pictorial art of Francesco Bagnara, dating back to 1850. In Ormelle, however, a visit to the church of the Templars, dating back to the XII century, should not be missed. To visitors the building appears suggestive in its shapes and dimensions, reminding us of the Middle Ages, thanks to its isolated location in the surrounding countryside.
