INDUSTRIAL ARCHAEOLOGY / THE CERVARA MILL

A weaving mill for the production of flour since 1300

Built during the Middle Ages, the Cervara Mill, located in the Santa Cristina Oasi, is one of the very few grain mills that still remains intact. Today a museum, the weaving mill still holds the machines, the gears and the wheels of the nineteenth century. Through a guided visit, it is possible to take part in a demonstration on how the cereal grinding process is carried out.

Even children can understand how the movement of the wheels pushed by the power of the water manages to turn the stone grinds located in the building. On this occasion it is also possible to visit the beautiful Sile Oasis, located in the Park, with its museum, fish kettles, platforms for animal viewing and reconstruction of the ancient rivers, the “casoni”.
