THE ROAD TO TASTE / THE TREVISO RADICCHIO
A delicacy of the Sile park
The chicory that we are currently familiar with thanks to its special shapes and colours, all belong to the same species, the Cichorium Intybus Silvestre. Therefore what we currently know as the Treviso Radicchio is a common species of chicory that experts have transformed into a food delicacy of Treviso.
The area of cultivation of the “Late Red Chicory of Treviso IGP” is identified in the area lapped by the Sile that, thanks to its resurgent water, whitens the tufts in the winter. The majority of typical production land is therefore inserted in the area of the Sile Park, a natural oasis of rare and special beauty that laps several cities, from Quinto di Treviso to Dosson, Badoere, Silea and many more.
